(the Gaffer) has been the driving force behind Forge for over 20 years.
If it’s powered by the internal combustion engine, he knows how to get
it started (and, occasionally, how to stop it!). Highly experienced,
exhaustively qualified and generally cheery, he’ll give you a swift,
honest opinion... whether it’s a curious knocking when turning right,
his views on that new motor you quite fancy or the perils of fatherhood.Pat. Everyone likes Pat! He started repairing mowers when he was 14 (he still has the regulation number of fingers), moved on to larger engines, specialised in tyres, went off piste and carried a hod for two years before being lured back to the dark side. What else can we tell you about Pat? Oh, he’s a crack shot with a 12 bore and his name’s actually Paul. But he’ll answer to Pat.
Other Steve. Young people today... they think you can learn how to be a mechanic with books and that! Getting all la-de-dah with their college ways. Such is the case with College Boy "Other Steve". No grinding apprenticeship for him, just book-learning and qualifications. When will he learn to make a decent cup of tea eh? Don’t teach you that in so-called college do they? Eh? Eh?
